Hello my name is Troy Carlton and I am an acrylic abstract artist. This painting was created while listening to the record Duke Ellington- Ellington Uptown.. For mybe the first time since I began painting the music didnt inspire the painting. Duke always inspires joy in me but due to things going on in my life the only thing I felt was Fear, Doubt, Loss, Panic, and depression. I believe that that was captured on this canvas.
Troy Carlton
Troy Carlton was born and raised in Flint Michigan. Before turning his focus on expression through painting he expressed himself through playing music. As a lifelong musician, he also created abstract watercolors. At some point through his journey, he began using acrylic paints as his medium. Music as it always had been playing a role in the creation of his work. Before beginning new work he selects a record and allows the record to inform him of a feeling he then translates unto the canvas. His work has been described as a stream of consciousness mindscapes. And also emotional environments. His attempt through abstraction is to engage you with a feeling and allow the painting to take you on a journey.
