Hello my name is Troy Carlton and I have created this painting while listening to the music of Miles Davis – Nefertiti. This record to me is very rhythmically engaging but also very light and has a floating feeling about it. It was my intention to capture something that engages you but also give you a feeling of tranquility. I hope I have accomplished this and that you enjoy looking at it..
Troy Carlton
Troy Carlton was born and raised in Flint Michigan. Before turning his focus on expression through painting he expressed himself through playing music. As a lifelong musician, he also created abstract watercolors. At some point through his journey, he began using acrylic paints as his medium. Music as it always had been playing a role in the creation of his work. Before beginning new work he selects a record and allows the record to inform him of a feeling he then translates unto the canvas. His work has been described as a stream of consciousness mindscapes. And also emotional environments. His attempt through abstraction is to engage you with a feeling and allow the painting to take you on a journey.
