This 18 x 24 abstract painting was created while listening to a song that had reminded me of my father who has passed away. He dealt with depression throughout his life and the energy of the music and my missing him allowed me to create this painting which to me kinda symbolizes his struggles..
Troy Carlton
Troy Carlton was born and raised in Flint Michigan. Before turning his focus on expression through painting he expressed himself through playing music. As a lifelong musician, he also created abstract watercolors. At some point through his journey, he began using acrylic paints as his medium. Music as it always had been playing a role in the creation of his work. Before beginning new work he selects a record and allows the record to inform him of a feeling he then translates unto the canvas. His work has been described as a stream of consciousness mindscapes. And also emotional environments. His attempt through abstraction is to engage you with a feeling and allow the painting to take you on a journey.Â
