Hello my name is Troy Carlton and I have created this painting while listening to Joe Henderson – State of the Tenor.. Joe’s playing on tenor can be tender and delicate and it can also be fiery and hot. The delicateness I tried to capture by just using black and white but I feel I have caught his heat with my texture and composition.. I hope ya dig it. Thanks for looking..
Troy Carlton
Troy Carlton was born and raised in Flint Michigan. Before turning his focus on expression through painting he expressed himself through playing music. As a lifelong musician, he also created abstract watercolors. At some point through his journey, he began using acrylic paints as his medium. Music as it always had been playing a role in the creation of his work. Before beginning new work he selects a record and allows the record to inform him of a feeling he then translates unto the canvas. His work has been described as a stream of consciousness mindscapes. And also emotional environments. His attempt through abstraction is to engage you with a feeling and allow the painting to take you on a journey.Â
