Hello my name is Troy Carlton and I am an acrylic abstract artist. I have created this painting while listening to Albert Ayler – Witches and Devils. This is an avant garde free jazz record which is pretty frenetic in its pace. I find this kind of music very soothing yet also very energizing. I painted this by layering colors on top of colors in a very playful manner. I find it to be interesting but very calming to look at. I hope you enjoy it.
Troy Carlton
Troy Carlton was born and raised in Flint Michigan. Before turning his focus on expression through painting he expressed himself through playing music. As a lifelong musician, he also created abstract watercolors. At some point through his journey, he began using acrylic paints as his medium. Music as it always had been playing a role in the creation of his work. Before beginning new work he selects a record and allows the record to inform him of a feeling he then translates unto the canvas. His work has been described as a stream of consciousness mindscapes. And also emotional environments. His attempt through abstraction is to engage you with a feeling and allow the painting to take you on a journey.Â
